For this project, my focus was the plastic surgery industry in South Korea—an exploration that delves into my dual role as both a participant and a victim in the relentless pressure to constantly reject natural beauty. The visual narrative of this project aims to encapsulate the tangible and intangible pain while conforming to beauty standards with elements signifying as cysts, bruises, and "botched" surgeries.
Specifically, I chose to emphasize the double eyelid surgery, arranging facial features with a primal density to underscore the normalized and desensitized nature of this particular procedure within society. An intriguing aspect of the assembly process lies in its sustainability. All materials used were recycled—I collected discarded pillows to create a bodily form, encapsulating them with my own personal tights.
